Jose Pineda is the founder, president, and senior consultant of Miami-based AC Journeys (Anthropologie Consulting, LLC), a boutique travel agency and consulting group which specializes in the design, set-up and execution of cultural and educational programs.
Born in Cuba and educated in his native country, the United Kingdom, and the United States, Mr. Pineda is an avid traveler with vast experience in the world of tourism. Currently, Mr. Pineda is based in Miami, FL.
He also serves in the Advisory Board of Cuba Counterpoints, a webzine devoted to the culture of Cuba and its diaspora. In the past, Mr. Pineda has taught English and reading to young immigrants, primarily from Cuba, who have recently arrived in the United States. He has been an adjunct faculty at Carlos Albizu University and Florida International University, teaching diverse education and cross-cultural communication courses.
Mr. Pineda is an analytical observer of Cuba. Working on his doctorate, Mr. Pineda is in the process of writing two pieces: a Cuban Reader for Americans – an analysis of US and Cuban media treatment of Cuba–USA issues; and Over the Bridge: Cuba and the USA– A discussion of misconceptions, misrepresentations, and culture shock on both sides of the Florida Straits.
